Your full-day adventure includes:
A visit to the most ancient Medina declared UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bab Boujeloud gate, Al Quaraouiyine University and the Andalusian Mosque , Madersa Bou Inania, shopping at the local shops in Kissaria and visit Chouwara Tanneries
You will step back centuries entering Fes Medina. It is separated into three parts, Fès el Bali (the old, walled city), Fès-Jdid (new Fes, home of the Mellah), and La Ville Nouvelle, the new part of Fes. Fes is the oldest of Morocco’s four imperial cities.
Fes Old Medina, el Bali was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important medieval cities of its type, and it is known as the most spiritual and religious cities in Morocco. Its narrow streets are full of antique mosques and massive minarets. Losing yourself at the Medina is like losing yourself in time… And when you see, you find yourself in a busy Souk where the artisans work and sell their crafts.
You will pass through the Bab Boujeloud gate, explore the alleys, visit the local shops in Kissaria known as the commercial center, see the Quaraouiyine and the Andalusian Mosque (entry is not permitted to non-Muslims), the Medersas (Koranic schools), the Palace that is now a museum of arts and traditions and Nejjarine fountain, pass through Mellah and the Ibn Danan synagogue.
You will also have the opportunity to visit Chouwara Tanneries – the biggest in Fes and the most striking sight in the Medina and Bab Boujloud with traditional ceramics.
