    Itinerary

    Day 1:Fes - Ifrane - Azrou - Erg Chebbi - Sahara

Your 3 days desert tour from fes to marrakech begins with a scenic drive through the Middle Atlas, watching the landscapes shift as you leave Fes behind. The first highlight is Ifrane, a mountain town famous for its clean streets, pitched-roof houses, and Alpine atmosphere, so different from the rest of Morocco that it earned the nickname Moroccan Switzerland.

Continuing further south, you pass through Azrou’s cedar forests, home to centuries-old trees and playful Barbary macaques. The road winds through volcanic rock formations and little Berber towns until the climate becomes warmer and drier.

By late afternoon, the horizon opens to the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes. Your accommodation, a charming desert auberge at the foot of the dunes, welcomes you with traditional Moroccan hospitality. Enjoy a warm dinner of local flavors, and spend the night in a Saharan-style room surrounded by silence, sand, and millions of stars.

Day 2:Full Day Desert Exploration – Erg Chebbi Region

This day is entirely dedicated to discovering the beauty and rhythm of the Sahara. After breakfast, you set off to explore the surroundings of Erg Chebbi, beginning with a visit to Khamlia, a small village known for its Gnawa musicians whose ancestral rhythms come from sub-Saharan Africa.

You then continue deeper into the desert to meet a nomadic family, sharing tea and conversation inside their tent, a chance to understand how life unfolds in one of the world’s most challenging environments.

The region is also famous for fossils, and you’ll see areas rich with ancient marine remains that tell stories of a prehistoric past. You may also stop by Dayet Srij, the largest seasonal lake around Merzouga, which sometimes hosts flamingos.

For adventure lovers, there is an opportunity to experience part of the old Paris–Dakar off-road track, offering a thrilling contrast to the serenity of the dunes. As the day winds down, return to your auberge for dinner and another peaceful night in your Saharan-style room.

Day 3:Erg Chebbi - Ziz Valley - Tunnel of the Legionnaire - Fes

Rise to the soft desert light and enjoy breakfast before beginning the journey back to Fes. The return route is filled with dramatic scenery, starting with a drive through the landscapes of Errachidia, followed by a stop over the lush Ziz Valley, Morocco’s largest palm oasis. Here you can take beautiful photos of the sweeping date plantations framed by steep canyon walls.

You’ll also pass through the Tunnel of the Legionnaire, carved in the 1930s to create a passageway through the mountains. The gorge that follows is a spectacular natural corridor carved by the Ziz River. By late afternoon, you arrive back in Fes and transfer to your hotel bringing a memorable Sahara adventure to a peaceful close.
