Your 2 days camel trekking from Fes begins as you leave behind the medieval streets of Fez and enter the serenity of the Middle Atlas Mountains. The road rises gently toward Ifrane, a surprisingly European-looking town with clean streets, sloping roofs, and fresh mountain air. It’s a refreshing introduction to the region and a scenic contrast to the desert waiting ahead.
From there, the journey continues through the towering cedar forests of Azrou, where you can admire centuries-old trees and watch the playful Barbary macaques that inhabit the area. The landscape then gradually shifts from dense forest to rocky plateaus and wide valleys as you approach the desert region of southern Morocco.
By late afternoon, the first dunes of Erg Chebbi appear on the horizon. The warm glow of the sand dunes signals the start of your desert experience. Here, your camel awaits to take you across the soft golden sands. The slow trek toward the camp is peaceful and breathtaking, especially as the sun begins to set and colors of orange and pink spread across the sky.
Once you arrive at the camp, a traditional Moroccan dinner is served, followed by an evening under a brilliant canopy of stars. Enjoy music, tranquility, and the vast silence of the Sahara before spending the night in a comfortable Berber-style tent within a private nomadic camp.
